MS. AVERY ZACHERY
WINSTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Ms. Zachery grew up in Winston, GA. and is a product of Douglas County School System, graduating from Douglas County High School. She student taught at Lithia Springs Elementary School and was hired to teach there after graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's in early childhood education. After eight years, she moved to Winston Elementary School (WES) where she attended elementary school as a child. During Ms. Zachery's 10-year career, she has always been willing to perfect her craft of teaching through advancement. She obtained a Master's in reading, language, and literacy and is currently enrolled in an ED.S program in teacher leadership. Throughout her career, Ms. Zachery has earned many endorsements, conducted professional development in mathematics, reading and blended learning, presented at symposiums and served as a mentor to new teachers. She has worked in the 21st Century Grant Program or Title 1 Tutoring for nine years. Ms. Zachery says she "feels blessed to represent Winston Elementary School as the Teacher of the Year."
